Samsung Galaxy A72 Review
One of three new Samsung “mid-tier” releases, the [Galaxy A72](https://www.mondo.co.za/devices/samsung-galaxy-a72-128gb-awesome-black) is etching out a space for itself as a top-end device with its notable features, size and capabilities. __Under the Hood__ From the jump, the A72 is impressive, coming fully equipped with the latest software available – Android 11 and UI 3.1. Much like its siblings – the [A32](https://www.mondo.co.za/devices/samsung-galaxy-a32-128gb-awesome-black) and [A52](https://www.mondo.co.za/devices/samsung-galaxy-a52-128gb-awesome-black) – the A72 also boasts the 90Hz Super AMOLED display which makes for some smooth scrolling between apps and a high refresh rate and device memory sits at 128GB with 8GB RAM. __Screen and Body__ With a screen size of 6.7 inches, the A72 is slightly larger than its fellow releases, making this the perfect hand-held gaming device. If you’re upgrading from a smaller phone, the size of this device won’t be a challenge. As with most Android smartphones, the A72 sports a one-handed mode. With a brightness level of 800 NITS and standard Eye Comfort Shield for maximum protection, direct sunlight and badly lit rooms are no match for the A72. Much like the A32, Samsung has released the A72 in four colours – the standard black and three bright pops of colour. Awesome Black and Awesome Violet are the two options available in South Africa. Also, in the box is a transparent jelly case protective cover that brilliantly highlights the phone’s polished finish. Unlocking the wonders of the A72 is simple with in-display fingerprint identification. __Camera__ This new release packs a lot in its camera bag of tricks, housing a 64 MP rear camera – made up of a 12 MP Ultra-wide, a 5 MP Macro and an 8 MP telephoto camera for getting those detailed shots from a distance. The front facing camera is an exceptional 32 MP, capturing stunning and bright self-portraits, every time! __Battery__ Powered by a 5 000 mAh battery, the A72 is already providing sustained performance, lasting well over a day on a single charge after mid to heavy use. The new 25W fast charger, an upgrade from the usual 15W Samsung charger, is your golden ticket to a full charge in less time than it takes to watch a movie. __Verdict__ While it has been marketed as a mid-tier smartphone by Samsung, the A72 provides a premium experience and is a top-end option for anyone looking to upgrade without breaking the bank.
