If you’re in the market for a mid-range smartphone that packs a punch without cutting corners, we’ve got you! We've pitted the Huawei P Smart 2021 and the HONOR 50 Lite – two of the best mid-range smartphones out right now – against each other, to see which one comes out on top.
RAM
When it comes to RAM, the HONOR 50 Lite takes the early lead. With 6GB RAM in the holster compared to 4GB on the Huawei P Smart, the HONOR 50 Lite is smoother to use and boasts faster loading speeds.
Internal Storage
These smartphones both find the sweet spot between affordability and capacity. Both devices come with 128GB internal memory plus a memory card slot to extend your storage. You can fit about 4300 high-quality photos on each phone, making it more than enough even for heavy users.
Display
When it comes to the display, both the HONOR and Huawei feature an IPS LCD screen with a 16 million colour range. The LCD technology offers great viewing angles, consistent colour and incredible clarity. The P Smart has an edge over the 50 Lite in the display density and resolution departments. It features 395 PPI and 2400 x 1080 resolution. The HONOR is not far behind with 391 PPI and 2376 x 1080 resolution. Both achieve a high resolution that balances pixel count and density for an FHD+ viewing experience. Although the HONOR’s display quality comes second, it beats the Huawei in the screen-to-body ratio category, boasting a premium 94.4% to Huawei’s 84.3%.
Camera
Both the HONOR 50 Lite and Huawei P Smart sport a quad rear camera component. For those looking for a capable main shooter that captures detailed images, the HONOR is your best bet thanks to its 64MP offering. The P Smart is a close second at 48MP. What’s more, the HONOR outshines the P Smart with a 16MP front camera compared to Huawei’s 8MP, making it a superior choice if you're looking to capture eye-catching selfies.
Processor
The HONOR 50 Lite runs on Android 11 out of the box, while the Huawei runs on version 10. Both phones feature powerful 4G enabled, mid-range Octa-Core processors released in 2020 – the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 for the HONOR and HiSilicon Kirin 710A for the Huawei. Tests show that the Snapdragon is only slightly better than the Kirin in terms of general performance, gaming performance, and overall chip score.
Battery
The Huawei P Smart is the stronger contender with a big0 5000 mAh battery. The HONOR features a slightly smaller 4300 mAh, Li-Po battery. Although the Huawei has a bigger battery, its fast charging speeds come in at a slower 22.5W to the Honor’s 66W. If you prefer a battery that stores more energy but takes a little longer to charge, the Huawei will be better suited. On the other hand, the HONOR is ideal for those who prefer super-quick charging capabilities and don't mind charging up a little more frequently.
Verdict
Although both smartphones are very similar, often sharing similar specs, they differ where it matters. If you’re looking for a budget option that offers a smooth user experience, a more powerful chipset and camera, and faster-charging speeds, then the HONOR 50 Lite is for you. But if you’re on the market for a budget smartphone that has a crystal-clear display and a bigger battery with decent fast charging speeds, the Huawei P Smart 2021 has your name written all over it!
