Huawei P Smart 2021 Review

Despite the odds, Huawei has navigated their Google-less smartphone offering with great success. For some users, this was a make or break factor. However, the Chinese manufacturer is making huge strides to deliver exceptional phones with more apps, games and services through their own AppGallery as time goes on. The latest mid-tier offering for 2021 is the Huawei P Smart, which packs impressive hardware for its price point - pretty much what we’ve come to expect from Huawei over the years.
Under the Hood
The device is powered by the Kirin 710F Octa-Core processor along with 4GB of RAM. As a result, you can expect speedy performance with daily use. The CPU is more than sufficient for multitasking and light gaming, so you shouldn’t experience any lag while using multiple apps at once.
In terms of memory, you can expect a 128GB onboard storage capacity and since the SIM tray is universal, you have the option of using it as a Dual-SIM phone or add more memory through a 256GB microSD card.
Huawei paired the device with its EMUI 10.1 OS which is based on Android 10.
Screen and Body
The Huawei P Smart may be a mid-range phone, but its appearance says otherwise. Inspired by the beauty of light and shadow, this device is available in Breathing Crystal and Midnight Black, two stunning options that are sure to turn heads. The 3D curved edges at the back allow you to easily grip the device, which fits snuggly in the hand.
The screen stands out in this device with a 6.3-inch OLED producing 16.7 million colours, making it a joy to sit back and enjoy videos and photos despite the non-intrusive teardrop camera notch.
Three Rear Cameras
As expected, Huawei couldn’t drop the ball with the cameras, so they’ve included three rear lenses. The showstopper here is the 48MP lens that you will use for the majority of pictures. The lens captures some intricate images, which the AI pushes further. The 8MP ultra-wide lens is decent offering you a 120-degree angle to capture more in an image. The 2MP depth camera is suitable for up-close photography for those finer details.
Of course, no smartphone is complete without its selfie camera. The Huawei P Smart 2021 has a front-facing 8MP camera for you to show off your best side on social media.
Battery
The device is paired with a 4,000mAh battery which is sufficient for the average user. If you’re on social media, playing games and watching videos, one charge should last you a complete day.
Other Features
Something rare in the smartphone world is the inclusion of a headphone jack but Huawei has added this to the package. The phone has an advanced In-Display fingerprint sensor with improved unlock speeds. It’s a seamless transition when you’re unlocking the device or confirming payment.
Verdict
The Huawei P Smart 2021 is a fantastic bud get phone with a premium OLED display. Its power, battery life and camera setup make it a real competitor in the market, even when going up against more expensive phones that don’t come close what this fantastic device offers.
