Staff Writer / 21-07-2020 / Reviews
If you thought the Samsung Galaxy S20 was impressive, wait until you get your hands on the S20+, and given its huge stature, you’ll need both hands to hold this beast. This is the second phone in the S20 range from Samsung released in 2020 and is positioned as the middle option between the S20 and the top of the range S20 Ultra, at least until the Note 20 comes along.
OPERATING SYSTEM
The S20 Plus ships with Android 10 running on a Samsung Exynos 990 processor.
DISPLAY
You get a gorgeous 6.9-inch OLED display with a crisp resolution of 3,200 x 1,440.
HARDWARE
The Samsung Galaxy S20+ is waterproof with an IP68 rating that claims it can be submerged in up to one meter of water for up to 30 minutes.
BATTERY AND CHARGING Wireless charging is supported with a charge time of 75 minutes. You also get 34 hours talk time, 11 days standby, 66 hours on speaker, and 102 hours on a headset.
CAMERAS
The S20+ features a quad lens main camera. The selfie camera, the most powerful on a Galaxy phone yet, is a 10MP shooter. The rear cameras are 64MP + 12MP + 12MP + TOF with video recording of up to UHD 8K (7680 x 4320) @24fps.
STORAGE AND SPACE
At least 128GB of internal storage and microSD support for external expansion up to 1TB.
COMPARISON
It’s a massive step up from its predecessors as the Galaxy S20+ takes the smartphone to new heights. This phone seems to exist for people who prefer bigger screens or “phablets” and provides a little more bang for your buck when compared to its S20 compatriot. The added camera and bigger battery make it a worthy competitor.
VERDICT
A great phone, but one that can become costly if you want the highest specs. The cameras are great. The screen is amazing. All around, it’s a sleek, beautiful device that isn’t short on power or features. But, if you own the Note 10, you could give this one a miss. Otherwise, grab it now.
